"Okay, I suppose an OM-28 from 1929 would be even better, but I think they only made 6 of them that first year. 1930 was the second year of production for this, the first 14 fret Martin model and arguably the first modern guitar. This guitar is in perfect playing condition, but not totally original. It has either been overshot or re-lacquered and has some top and back repairs. There's an area on the treble side of the top above the pickguard where there is a slight depression caused by pick wear; this has clearly been refinished. There's also an area on the bass side of the top above the soundhole where I would say there has been a new piece of spruce patched in...it's a beautiful job. It retains its original small maple bridge plate. There are three repaired top cracks that I can see, one short one at the bottom of the center seam, one about 2.5 inches long from the lower edge, treble side and one about the same length at the waist, treble side. There are cleats visible through the soundhole on two back cracks, neither of which is visible from the outside. The original bar frets remain, and play great. The bridge may well be a repro, but it's a perfect one. There are modern Waverly tuners in place of the original banjo tuners (which never work to begin with...they only have a 4/1 ratio). The pickguard is also a modern replacement, and is the size Martin would have used on OMs from mid 1931 on, rather than the smaller 1930 style. Over the last 33 years, I've owned about 10 of these guitars. I always sold off the previous one when I found one that sounded better. This is the one I ended up with....I'm sure I'll never buy another, as they've gotten too pricey for me. In any case, this one sounds as good as the best I ever had. It comes in the modern very high class case shown in the pictures; this has actual fabric on the outside, by the way, rather than the usual plasticized whatever. The action is medium low, with room to lower or raise it at the bridge. I will offe
